National Rider Risk Awareness Course

The course clarifies the sources of risk to riders and identifies ways that they can reduce that risk through behaviour change. The principal aim is to reduce clients’ high-risk riding behaviour, and ultimately seeks to prevent a client from experiencing the likely negative consequences of their risky riding, such as road traffic collisions or loss of licence.

Course duration is 3 hours and can be taken at a venue or online dependant on the provider you choose. (NDORS Lancashire do not currently offer this course.)

Who is it for?

If you commit a minor motoring offence whilst riding a motorcycle or moped, the police may offer you the chance to attend a course designed to help you comply with the law in the future.

You can only go on this course if you have received a conditional offer letter giving you the choice to attend.

What will I learn?

You’ll explore why you’ve been offered the course, understand the risks associated with riding, discover ways to improve your riding behaviour, and learn how to reduce risks to yourself and others. There is no riding involved but you will be expected to actively take part, make a positive contribution and demonstrate a willingness to improve your knowledge
